Statement from our founder

In recent days, a comment I wrote on social media has rightly led to criticism and disappointment. I would like to explain what happened and take responsibility for it.

The comment was written impulsively in the context of an online discussion that had become increasingly provocative and polarised. Instead of taking a step back, I added to that dynamic by posting a comment that was categorical and generalising and meant to be ironic. That was a mistake.

My intention was not, and is not, that Muslims or people of any particular faith should be excluded, judged or treated differently. However, I fully understand why the comment has been interpreted that way, and I regret that.

Looking back, I can see that the comment reduced a complex issue to a single word. It failed to reflect the respect I believe all people deserve, regardless of their background, beliefs or convictions.

The responsibility is mine alone. I wrote the comment, and I should not have done so.

Norse Projects has been built over many years by talented people from different countries, cultures and perspectives. The company’s values are not defined by a single social media comment, but by how we treat one another every day. Respect for people is, and will remain, a fundamental principle of our company.

To everyone who has been disappointed, offended or hurt by what I wrote, I am sincerely sorry.

Tobia Sloth, Founder, Norse Projects
