Stensholt Suede Leather Zip Jacket, Paraboot for Norse Projects

Stensholt, Paraboot for Norse Projects

The ongoing collaboration between Paraboot and Norse Projects moves from the foot to the shoulders. The Stensholt Suede Leather Zip Jacket brings the French shoemaker’s understanding of leather to a Norse Projects blouson.

Paraboot has made shoes in France since 1908. Its reputation rests on leather: selected for its character, worked by hand and stitched so that a pair can be resoled and worn for years. That knowledge has shaped a series of shoes made with Norse Projects. The Thiers by Paraboot for Norse Projects pays tribute to the Kanonbådsskure, the historic gunboat sheds on Holmen in Copenhagen. The Ravn draws on the hiking lineage of the archive, and the Fasan reduces a 1990s Paraboot boat shoe to its essentials.

The Stensholt Suede Leather Zip Jacket is the first garment in the series. It takes the Stensholt, a relaxed-fitting zip blouson that Norse Projects has previously made in Japanese cotton buff cloth and in an Italian wool check from Manteco, and constructs it in bull hide nubuck, the same leather used for the Fasan. The shape stays the same; the leather ties the jacket directly to the shoe.

Made in Italy, the jacket draws on classic sportswear, with raglan sleeves, a centre-front zip closure, welt hand pockets and a gathered waistband. It is finished inside with a zipped pocket and a custom collaborative label in Paraboot’s signature green.

The idea behind a Paraboot shoe is care over time: leather that is maintained, rather than replaced, softens and takes on the shape of the person who wears it. The Stensholt Suede Leather Zip Jacket is made on the same principle. Worn over knitwear through the colder months, it carries that sensibility into the working week.
