Completed in Autumn 2019, Copenhagen’s newest metro line effectively showcases a sleek urban design that serves the city’s 650,000 residents on a 24-hour 7 day a week basis. The aptly named Cityringen or “The Circle Line” connects the neighbourhoods of Vesterbro, Frederiksberg, Nørrebro, Østerbro and the city centre by way of a 15.5-kilometre track and 17 stops — connecting the outer boroughs with the rest of the city.
To integrate seamlessly with their environment, stations were designed with the consideration of glass and light as key design elements, and all differ in their own way based on location. The Frederiksberg Allé station, for example, has a colour scheme that transitions to the outdoor park that greets riders when they reach street level.
