Stevns Klint is celebrated for its extraordinary geological significance. Along this stretch of Denmark’s coastline, the white chalk cliffs reveal a narrow band of dark clay, rich in iridium—a rare element associated with the asteroid that struck Earth 66 million years ago. This thin layer marks the so-called Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary, representing the dramatic mass extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs and paved the way for mammals to flourish.

Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, Stevns Klint serves as a natural archive for scientists, offering clear, visible evidence of one of Earth’s most pivotal moments.
